When combined with carefully curated lipidomics libraires such as Waters Lipidomics Profiling CCS Library, lipid identification confidence increases even further. The SELECT SERIES Cyclic IMS takes these workflows and adds scalable ion mobility to tease apart lipids with only small structural differences.

Compliment LC-MS lipidomics with tissue imaging

Imaging mass spectrometry adds biological insights to your lipidomics research by adding location data, lost when homogenizing samples for LC-MS analysis. Lipids are important functional components of all cells and mapping specific lipid concentrations can be used to identify tissue regions or abnormal cell types linked with disease. DESI XS is an ideal tool to image the location of lipids in tissue sections and is available on Waters’ Xevo G3 QTof, SYNAPT XS, SELECT SERIES Cyclic IMS and SELECT SERIES MRT mass spectrometers.
