Common analytical procedures for vitamin analysis are often time-consuming and only target one compound. Waters HPLC and UPLC systems and columns provide the separation capabilities required to test for vitamins in efficient and reliable methods across a range of beverage products such as fortified dairy products, sports drinks and vitamin waters.

Ultra-Performance Convergence Chromatography (UPC²) allows for the streamlined testing of fat-soluble vitamins using a single procedure and technique. In comparison to normal phase and reversed phase chromatography the UPC² provides improvements in speed, reliability and resolution for vitamin testing. Leveraging carbon dioxide (CO₂) as the principle mobile phase, UPC² offers a more sustainable, greener and cost effective alternative for the routine testing of vitamins in beverages.

Flexible Detection Options

The 2998 PDA Detector is reliable, easy-to-use, and has enhanced software control, providing the flexibility required for routine analysis as well as definitive compound identification & co-elution detection. The use of different wavelengths provides excellent sensitivity and selectivity for vitamins in various beverage samples. Mass detection allows for the analysis of compounds which cannot be detected by UV due to an absence of a chromophore. The increased selectivity also achieved using mass detection provides greater confidence in compound identification due to a greater level of analyte discrimination. The ACQUITY QDa detector has a compact design allowing for easy integration with HPLC, UPLC or UPC² systems, increasing the flexibility of laboratories to analyze a greater number of vitamins in a single analytical method.
